ABOUT ME
As Bon Jovi says, "who says you can't go home?" I am a born and raised Virginian and product of Fairfax County Public Schools. As a student, I was lucky to have passionate teachers to inspire and push me to do my best, cheering for me when I succeeded and helping me to persevere when I failed. I grew to imagine a classroom of my own where, one day, I could return the favor to a new generation of teenagers.
After graduating high school, I attended the University of Mary Washington where I earned my B.A. in English and Teacher Licensure in English, Grades 6-12. After my student teaching (with the lovely woman pictured next to me in the photo to the right), I returned to Fairfax County to teach, ultimately returning to the high school from which I graduated. I currently have the privilege of teaching four sections of AP Literature and serving as the English department chair.
When I'm not working with my inspiring students, collaborating with my talented colleagues, or grading the seemingly never-ending stack of papers and essays, I'm staying busy with lots of other things. I'm currently in grad school to earn my Masters in Education Leadership, and I love to spend time reading, running, and making memories with my husband and son. Our little farm of dogs, chickens, goats, geese, and a turkey (named Apple!) keep us busy, but we love to travel and go on adventures, near and far.
